Super Mario Land 2 (Cart Only)

The underwater sections control much smoother than I expected, and the chiptune soundtrack is incredibly catchy—still stuck in my head days later. For a cart-only GameBoy game, the label is in great shape and it loads up perfectly every time.

The wings mechanic adds a fun twist to the platforming, and those underwater sections feel surprisingly smooth for a GameBoy game. The chiptunes are exactly the cheerful kind I remember from childhood.

I finally got to play this on original hardware and the bright, colorful world is so charming on the tiny screen. The underwater sections feel surprisingly smooth and the music is still stuck in my head hours later.
