Quick answer
Choose the Neo Geo CD if you want a home console with the full arcade library on disc. Pick the Neo Geo Pocket if you prefer a portable system with a unique, quirky game library.
Home console vs handheld
The Neo Geo CD is a home console that plays games on CD-ROM, offering a more affordable way to access the Neo Geo arcade library compared to the expensive AES cartridges. The Neo Geo Pocket, on the other hand, is a true handheld with its own library of games, many of which are exclusive and not available on the home systems.
Your choice depends on whether you want to play Neo Geo arcade classics on a TV or enjoy a dedicated portable gaming experience with titles like Ohanabi.
Library differences
The Neo Geo CD library includes many of the same fighting games and shooters found on the AES, but loading times are longer due to the CD-ROM drive. The Neo Geo Pocket library is smaller but includes unique titles, puzzle games, and colorful platformers that are not available on the home console.
Trade-offs at a glance
