Quick answer
The Rayz Arcade Chronology Limited Edition for Switch includes a Special Live Blu-ray and CD, booklets, install cards, and three leaflets — making it a substantial collector's package for Taito shooting game fans.
What makes the Limited Edition different from the standard release
The standard Rayz Arcade Chronology game disc alone gives you the arcade-perfect ports of Taito's classic shooters. The Limited Edition adds physical extras that document the music, artwork, and behind-the-scenes development of the Rayz series. If you already own the standard version, the Limited Edition extras are the main reason to upgrade.
Physical extras you can expect
Inside the box you get a Special Live Blu-ray and a CD — the Blu-ray captures live performances of the game's iconic soundtrack, while the CD lets you listen on the go. Three leaflets and multiple install cards provide additional context, and a set of booklets dives into character art, stage designs, and developer notes. The packaging itself is premium, designed to match the arcade aesthetic of the Rayz series.
Decision rules
- Check your region and console compatibility: This is a Japanese import for Nintendo Switch. Make sure your Switch account and console can play Japanese-region games (Switch is region-free, but eShop codes on install cards may require a Japanese account).
- Assess your interest in physical extras: If you only want to play the games, the standard edition is enough. The Limited Edition is for collectors who want the Blu-ray, CD, booklets, and leaflets as part of a physical archive. If you skip the Limited Edition, you miss only the extras — the game itself is identical.
- Consider the price difference: The Limited Edition has a catalog comparison price of USD 159.99 but is available new for USD 108.79. That's a significant discount off the original MSRP, making it a better value than buying the standard edition and extras separately — if you want the extras.
