奇々怪界 (新品)

The pronunciation alone is a rite of passage, but once you get past that, the opening blast is pure nostalgia. It's the kind of cartridge that makes you appreciate how far we've come since the early nineties, and it still holds up.

Even after all these years, the learning curve to just ask for it by name still makes me smile every time I boot it up. That initial chaotic blast of gameplay from the early nineties hits just as hard as I remember, and the difficulty is unrelenting in the best way.

My first playthrough was brutal in the best way, and trying to tell my brother the name over the phone was its own little comedy. The early-nineties difficulty curve doesn't hold your hand at all, which is exactly why it stuck with me.
