Shining Force Gaiden II

The battle animations are surprisingly fluid for a handheld title, and the story pulled me right in from the first chapter. I spent hours just exploring every town and dungeon, which felt huge for a Game Gear game.

The sprite work in this Game Gear title is incredibly detailed for a handheld game from that era, really showing off what the system could do. I found myself getting completely lost in the imaginative world and story. It's a real gem if you enjoy classic turn-based RPGs.

I picked this up for a nostalgia trip and the sprite work is honestly gorgeous for a Game Gear title—each character portrait has so much detail. The story pulled me in right from the opening scene and kept me engaged through the whole campaign. It’s a hidden gem that holds up better than I expected.
