Son Son II

The extendable staff mechanic feels surprisingly fluid for an old HuCard, and the way you have to bail out your companions adds a fun layer of strategy. Really brings back that classic PC Engine arcade vibe without feeling too dated.

I finally got Pigsy to stop chasing ladies long enough to help me through the third boss. The extendable staff range makes dodging those swooping bats so much easier than I expected.

The extendable staff mechanic makes Monkey feel properly agile, and the constant back-and-forth of recruiting Pigsy and Sandy adds a fun rhythm to the quest. Took me a few tries to get past the later levels, but the challenge feels fair and the sprite work is charming.
