Category: PC Engine HU Card

Plays similar to Nectaris in that it’s a militaristic strategy title that’s quite easy to get into thanks to the almost Nintendo-esque way Masaya lead the player by the hand through the early stages. Yet once the simple control face is mastered the adventure really opens up. The Gaiserds of the title are the mecha robots of varying strengths and abilities that are placed throughout the space stages. When a ruck kicks off the animated sequences are very impressive for a HU based title.

The tutorial pacing is spot-on—it eases you into the military tactics without ever feeling like a chore, and the early missions genuinely teach you the ropes. The unit variety keeps the mid-game fresh, and once the difficulty ramps up, you’ll actually feel prepared.

Thomas D. ★★★★★

I was nervous about getting into a strategy game, but the way it eases you into the mechanics with the first few missions makes it surprisingly approachable. The militaristic feel is solid without being overwhelming.

Charlotte ★★★★★

The way it gradually introduces new unit types in the early missions kept me from feeling lost, yet the strategy still gets genuinely tricky later on.
