Category: Super Famicom

As interesting as a game as a cultural study having been given a makeover to Street Combat for the Western audience. The subtle martial artists were transformed into robots and rejects from an Arnie movie. But the original has plenty going for fans of fight titles with a Japanese slice of lime of the side with an unusual control system with the buttons being used for jumping and blocking and all the wacky manga characters.

It’s wild how this Super Famicom cart keeps the original martial arts sprites intact, making it feel totally different from the Western robot version. The frantic brawling is a blast, and the subtle animations still look cool decades later.

I picked this up mostly out of curiosity about the weird Western localization, and the fact that it's basically a fighting game with robots instead of martial artists is as bizarre as it sounds. The Japanese version's subtleties are completely lost in translation, but the combat itself is solid and
