Actually a port of ThunderForce III the seminal Saturn and more Mega Drive title of this era. Richly detailed mode 7 backgrounds compete for your attention amongst the swarms of enemy vessels. Not quite up to the mighty source material of ThunderForce III, but not much is.

Aurora S. ★★★★★

The Mode 7 backgrounds on this one are genuinely gorgeous — they pull your eye away from the bullet hell chaos for a split second, which is part of the fun. Even as a cart-only pickup, it’s a solid port that runs smoothly on my SFC. Definitely the best way I’ve played ThunderForce III so far.

Ava ★★★★★

Picked this up for the Super Famicom and the Mode 7 backgrounds really pop—way more detailed than I expected from the cartridge. The enemy swarms keep things intense and the port feels solid.

Sofia L. ★★★★★

Bought this for my Super Famicom and it’s the same frantic shooter I remember from the Mega Drive days, just with those rich mode 7 backdrops that make the stages pop. The enemy swarms never let up, so you’re constantly dodging while taking in the detailed scenery. Cart-only is fine since the label
