宇宙巡航艦V

The weapon upgrading system in Gradius V really changes how you approach each stage, and the visuals pop beautifully on a PS2. Just finished a run on Normal and the difficulty feels perfectly balanced for series veterans.

Bought this on a whim and it's easily one of the most polished shooters I've played on the PS2, the difficulty curve is steep but fair in that classic Treasure way. The way they've layered the power-up system into the level design keeps every run feeling fresh even after a dozen tries.

I was worried Treasure would overcomplicate the classic formula, but they nailed it—the freedom they were given really shows in how creatively the bosses use the screen space. The way the power-up meter forces you to balance risk against survival kept me glued to the controller for hours.
