Hyper Olympic Winter 2000 (New)

The ski jumping event is surprisingly addictive—the timing to launch feels tight but rewarding once you nail it. Speed skating has a nice sense of pace too, making this a solid pick-up-and-play title for short sessions.

Pipe slalom feels surprisingly smooth for a GameBoy game — the controls are responsive enough that I nailed my first run without much practice. Ski jumping took a few tries to get the timing down, but it’s addictive once you do. It’s exactly the kind of quick-play sports title I was hoping for.

Speed skating is where this one shines, the pace feels properly frantic on a tiny screen. I've played through every event twice already and the slalom snowboarding has that pick-up-and-play quality Konami was known for back then.
