Finally, my childhood petting and poo-scooping skills are put to good use on the GameBoy screen. The virtual creature reacts just as impatiently as I remember when I skip a feeding, and the pixel art is charmingly chunky. It's a nostalgic trip that's honestly more fun than I expected at my age.

The screen resolution is surprisingly crisp for a GameBoy release, and the mini-game additions actually make the pet-raising loop feel fresh instead of tedious.

The poop-cleaning and feeding loop translates perfectly to the GameBoy, and the button layout makes petting feel surprisingly responsive. I’ve lost whole afternoons to this thing again, just like back in the day.
