Squares Tom Sawyer

The Fujioka character art on the box is what sold me, and the in-game sprites are just as charming. Controls feel tight for an old NES-style cart, and the adventure moves at a nice pace. Definitely worth adding to a Famicom collection.

The hand-drawn box art by Katsutoshi Fujioka is gorgeous, and the whole presentation feels like holding a piece of gaming history. It’s a quirky, charming adventure that makes me smile every time I pop it in.

The game’s sprite work really captures the charm of the original Fujioka illustrations, which I wasn’t expecting. Only downside is the instruction manual is a bit sparse, but the adventure itself is solid.
