The four-player local battles are pure chaos, and the fact that you can’t see the whole screen on a handheld just makes the tension that much better. Single player is a solid warm-up, but this is built for couch sessions with friends.

The single-player campaign is challenging enough to keep you grinding for hours, and the bomb-placement strategy never gets old. I’ve been playing it on the train and the quick rounds fit perfectly between stops. Definitely worth grabbing if you miss old-school arcade mayhem.

Bomberman’s frantic multiplayer is even better on a handheld—turns out keeping tabs on four screens from a couch instead of a TV makes every bomb drop a mini-heart attack. The adrenaline spike is real, and the pick-up-and-play pacing is perfect for short bursts.
