天外魔境 歌舞伎傳

The anime sequences are surprisingly well-done for a PC Engine game, with a vibrant style that really makes the characters pop. I’ve been playing through it and the mix of traditional theatre with pure absurdity keeps me entertained, though the Japanese text is a barrier if you don’t understand it.

The anime cutscenes are genuinely gorgeous for the era, and the kabuki pacing keeps every scene feeling unpredictable. I’ve spent hours just exploring the dialogue options to catch all the weird expressions—it’s the most personality-packed game I own for the console.

The crazy kabuki humour actually had me laughing out loud, which I didn't expect from a CD-ROM game. The anime sequences are beautiful, though the battle system feels a bit clunky compared to modern JRPGs.
